Responding to being questioned, Mito declares that the wooden spoon is extremely painful. The Master therefore asks the boy if he wants to change the instrument for the continuation of his well-deserved punishment, to which he accepts without hesitation. His thinking that any other instrument will certainly be better, he will change very soon though. Next Mito randomly chooses a playing card to determine the number of hand spankings he is to get, in addition to the already determined 50 strokes with the instrument of his choice, unluckily he pulls the joker which awards him instead another 100 strokes with the same leather paddle. So now the young boy is given an extra severe punishment with the dreaded leather paddle, Mito takes it all with quite visible difficulty. After his well-deserved punishment, the Master proceeds to ask him some probing questions to see how brave Mito really is.
