Johnny is now punished with two alternating leather belts while he remains in a wheelbarrow position and he is also spanked by hand while he remains there. Recognizing that he had failed his team the boy strives to at least courageously endure his punishment showing as few signs of weakness as possible. After getting dressed Johnny also then had to endure the painful and humiliating experience of wearing clothespins on his ears for the rest of the day.
